On Wednesday, September 9th, we are asking the Jubilee family to commit to pray at least one hour. The church building will be open from 6am to 6pm for anyone who would like to pray in the worship room (with social distancing). The prayer garden will also be available. Anyone can come to the church property and park and pray, if that works better. Please use the document below as a prayer guide. The guide includes scriptures and prompts regarding prayer for our families, neighbors, church, community, our nation, for reconciliation, and prayer for the world during this pandemic.

Prayer guides will also be available at the worship services on Sunday, September 6th.

Prayer Guide: Introduction

Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. -  Matthew 18:19 ESV

Thank you for joining our congregation in prayer today. We are asking that you pray for at least one hour. The following pages are designed to help guide your thoughts during that time. Over the next hour, we will pray together for matters ranging from the most personal to those of global consequence. In this guide, you will find biblical passages concerning each subject. As we pray Scripture, we believe the truth of God’s Word and trust His faithfulness to keep His Word. In addition, you will see prompts that are designed to help you apply those Scriptures in prayer.

We do believe that the Lord hears and answers His people when we pray. We are confident in all that will be accomplished today as we call on Him now...

I will call upon you, for you will answer me, O God;
incline your ear to me; hear my words. - Psalm 17:6 ESV
Prayer for Ourselves

But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart. But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.- 2 Corinthians 3:18-4:2 ESV

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.- 2 Corinthians 4:7 ESV

Pray for yourself, even during this time in the Word and prayer, that you would see God’s glory in the Scriptures. Pray that the Holy Spirit would further conform you into the image of Christ. Pray for yourself, even in these difficult times, that you would not lose heart. Pray that you would have the boldness, wisdom, and conviction to share the treasure of God’s Word and to show His surpassing power to those around you.
Prayer For Our Families

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. - 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 ESV

Pray for your family members who do not know the Lord, that they would hear and receive the good news of reconciliation with God in Christ.

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.- Ephesians 5:22-6:3 ESV

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.  - Deuteronomy 6:6-9 ESV

Pray for yourself and your family according to their stations, that husbands and wives would love each other and the Lord according to God’s Word in Ephesians 5:22-33, and show a picture of the gospel to those around them. Pray for children, that they would have God-honoring relationships with their parents. Pray for fathers and mothers as they seek to raise their children in the Lord, that they would have strength, wisdom, and grace to parent well. Pray for fathers in particular, that they would not be harsh with their children, but lovingly lead their families in teaching them God’s Word.
Prayer for Our Church and Community

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints  and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,  Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined  together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.- Ephesians 2:19-22 ESV

Pray for our church to keep Jesus and his word central to all ministry. Pray for the various ministry areas of our church.

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience,  bearing with one another  in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”  - Ephesians 4:1-3 ESV

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the  unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in  deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him  who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it  builds itself up in love.-  Ephesians 4:11-16 ESV

Pray for our church to be unified in our purpose and mission. Pray for opportunities for members to use their specific gifts for the advancement of the gospel. Also, pray for specific church members’ needs who come to mind.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who  believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.- Romans 1:16 ESV

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp  and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your  Father who is in heaven.”- Matthew 5:14-16 ESV

Pray for specific churches in our community, thanking God for the power that is found in the gospel.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet  life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our  Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. - 1 Timothy 2:1-4 ESV

Pray for our local government leaders. Offer a prayer of thanksgiving for our ability to gather for worship each week in freedom. Pray for wisdom for our leaders, as they continue to navigate the unique season in which we live.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.- Philippians 4:8 ESV

Pray for our local schools. Pray for the various administrative roles, for the teachers, for the students to focus their attention on the things that are true, honorable, just, and pure.

Prayer for a Spirit of Reconciliation
From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.  The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.- 2 Corinthians 5:16-20 ESV

We believe in the power of the Gospel to bring redemption to lost people reconciling us to God. We believe that this transformation can lead to revival in our culture. We believe that, as people are reconciled to God, they adopt a spirit (and ministry) of reconciliation toward each other. We pray for the work of the Gospel to bring about reconciliation between:

Races / Ethnicities

For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.- 1 Corinthians 12:13 ESV

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”-Revelation 7:9-10 ESV

We pray that all people, led by the people of God (and especially among the people of God) would be reconciled to each other regardless of the perceived differences that divide us.

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. - Ephesians 3:14 ESV

Trusting God’s authority and intimate knowledge of every family, we pray for reconciliation in homes that are broken due to abuse, infidelity, or addiction. We pray for families who are grieving, suffering, and enduring other hardships.

Sister Churches / Our Church

But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.  Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.- 1 Corinthians 12:18-20, 24b-27 ESV
Prayer for our Neighbors

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these. - Mark 12:30-31 ESV

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.- Matthew 11:28-30 ESV

Many of our neighbors are dealing with many challenges such as financial and emotional. Pray that God will show them peace and mercy in this season. We pray that our neighbors will also seek God during this time for His unfailing love and grace. We also pray that God will use us to be the salt and light for those in need around us.
Prayer for the Lost

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.- John 6:44 ESV

And when he comes, He (The Holy Spirit) will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.- John 16:8 ESV

Many of those around us are spiritually lost and far away from God. We pray that God will draw lost individuals to Himself, convict them of their sin, and open their hearts to Jesus. We also pray for God to use us to share the Gospel with our lost friends and neighbors.
Prayer for our Nation

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. - Proverbs 14:34 ESV

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.- 2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV

If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it.- Jeremiah 18:7-10 NIV

As we pray for our nation today, we pray first that we as God’s people will repent of our sin and turn to the will of God in our individual lives. Let us each stop right now and ask the Lord if we have sin in our lives that we need to confess and repent. Let us also pray for our leaders to lead us away from sin to righteousness. Let us pray for godly leaders to be elected and pray for our nation as a whole to turn to God as our only hope for the future.
Prayer for our World

I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech. - Psalm 17:6 NKJV

First of all then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.  This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all which is the testimony given at the proper time. - 1 Timothy 2:1-6 ESV

But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.  He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.  If you love those who love you, what reward will you get?  Are not even the tax collectors doing that?  And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?  Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. - Matthew 5:44-48 NIV

As we pray for the world, let us pray for God’s will to be done (Matthew 6:9-10). Pray specifically for world leaders, as well as for the people of the world. Throughout scripture, God uses leaders to carry out His will, even when they are not believers. Also, we should pray for all people of the world, even if we consider them to be our enemies.

Today, remember to specifically ask God to end this viral pandemic that is threatening the health and stability of the world.

Pray that He would meet the many needs of the world.

Finally, and most importantly, pray for a world revival of Christians and for the lost to trust Christ as their Lord and Savior.
